Max, newly rebranded HBO Max, hailing from Warner Bros. Discovery, confirmed a new Harry Potter Tv series. The author of the Harry Potter books, JK Rowling, will serve as the series's Executive producer. The news was disclosed during an event that unveiled the logo and name of the rebranded streaming service.

The upcoming series will feature a new cast. As per the officials from the Max, the series will be a decade-long project based on Rowling's books.

“Max’s commitment to preserving the integrity of my books is important to me, and I’m looking forward to being part of this new adaptation which will allow for a degree of depth and detail only afforded by a long-form television series,” J.K. Rowling said in a statement.

It is to be noted that Warner Bros has earlier developed each book into a film, released between 2001 and 2011. While the first six parts were made into a single film, the last one, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, was divided into two films.

Meanwhile, Rowling has faced a backlash over her repeated anti-transgender comments. Despite growing criticism about her remarks, Rowling has repeatedly refused to back down from her opinions.
