The trailer of The Mother, the upcoming film starring Jennifer Lopez in the lead role, was released by Netflix on social media.

The trailer introduces us to Jennifer Lopez who plays an FBI agent and has just give birth. However, her hopes crumble down when an agency decides to transfer her daughter to a new place where she will be on safer hands. Realising the good in the deed, the mother lets off her daughter hoping that it will lead to a better life. However, it comes down crashing when her enemies take control of her daughter.

The actor-singer will be essaying the role of former assassin, who is coming out of retirement just as when her daughter is in grave danger. Lopez's character shares a turbulent relationship with her daughter and tries her best to fix their bond.

“A military-trained assassin comes out of hiding to protect the daughter she's never met from ruthless criminals gunning for revenge,” reads the synopsis of the film. Expected to be an action drama, the film is directed by Niki Caro who previously directed Disney's Mulan. Joseph Fiennes, Omari Hardwick and Gael García Bernal are also part of the cast.

The film will premiere on Netflix on May 12.
