Kevin Bacon joins Eddie Murphy’s Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley

Kevin Bacon has reportedly joined the cast of Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley. Eddie Murphy, the star of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise, is returning to lead the new addition to the series. The fourth instalment to the series also stars Taylor Paige, Judge Reinhold, Paul Reiser, John Ashton, Bronson Pinchot, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in supporting roles.

The franchise started with Beverly Hills Cop in 1984, the success of the film spawned two more films, the trilogy ended with Beverly Hills Cop III in 1994. The film is being produced by streaming giant Netflix with director Mark Molloy helming the project. It is based on a script written by Will Beall who has previously worked as a writer on films like Aquaman and Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

Jerry Bruckheimer, known for producing films like Pirates of the Caribbean and Top Gun: Maverick will be producing the film under his banner Jerry Bruckheimer Films. He will be producing it along with franchise star Eddie Murphy and Chad Oman. The makers are yet to announce a release date but it is expected to release in 2023.
