Paramount Pictures has reportedly removed Star Trek 4 from their release calendar. The fourth instalment of the franchise was announced towards the end of 2021. The series stars Chris Pine as Captain Kirk while Zachary Quinto plays Spock and Zoe Saldana play communications officer Uhura.

It was earlier reported that Matt Shakman would direct the upcoming film but a couple of months ago it was confirmed that the filmmaker has exited the project citing scheduling conflicts.

The Star Trek 4 film was originally scheduled to release on 23 December 2023. Shakman had earlier directed the Disney+ Marvel series Wandavision which was released in 2021.

The rebooted Star Trek film series began with the 2009 film by J J Abrams. After Star Trek: Into The Darkness and Star Trek: Beyond, the franchise was put on hold after a lukewarm response to the sequels.
