A24 releases trailer for Aftersun, confirms theatrical release date

A24 has released the first official trailer for its upcoming film Aftersun. The film marks the directorial debut of Charlotte Wells and stars Paul Mescal in the lead, Wells has also written the film. Aftersun had its premiere at the 2022 Cannes International Film Festival during the critics week and won the Jury’s prize.

A24 has now confirmed the film will get a theatrical release on 21 October. The film also stars Francesca Corio, Brooklyn Toulson, Sally Messham, and Harry Perdios in supporting roles. Director Wells calls it “emotionally autobiographical” 

The film is about a woman who reminisces about her younger years when she went on a trip to Turkey with her father. Aftersun received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics at Cannes. Shot in and around locations in Turkey, the film is a British-American production. The film was also screened at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and the Adelaide Film Festival.
