CE Features

A sequel series for Blade Runner, titled Blade Runner 2099, has been green-lit by Amazon Studios.

The upcoming series is a limited live action. While much about the plot has not yet been disclosed, it is expected that the series is set 50 years after the events of Blade Runner 2049, a sequel to the original Blade Runner. While Silka Luisa will be the showrunner and executive producer, Ridley Scott will also serve as execute producer under Scott Free Productions banner.

Released in 1982, the first Blade Runner film was loosely based on the book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K Dick.

"The original Blade Runner, directed by Ridley Scott, is considered one of the greatest and most influential science-fiction movies of all time, and we’re excited to introduce Blade Runner 2099 to our global Prime Video customers,” Variety quoted Vernon Sanders, head of global television for Amazon Studios.
