Blumhouse Productions is reportedly merging with James Wan’s Atomic Monsters to create a new line of horror films. Blumhouse has a reputation for producing a large number of mid to low-budget horror films that are critically as well as commercially well-received. They are responsible for a number of horror films like The Black Phone, Halloween, Happy Death Day, and Sinister.

James Wan, who shot to fame with the thriller film SAW, created successful horror franchises like Conjuring and Insidious which went on to spawn several sequels and spinoffs like the Anabelle series and the Nun series. Wan and Blumhouse previously collaborated on the 2012 film Sinister. The upcoming Blumhouse Production M3GAN, set to release on 6 January, is based on a story by James Wan. 

Talking about the merger in an interview, Jason Blum said, “We really do complement each other, yin and yang, which is part of what makes this so exciting. James (Wan) is probably 70 to 80 percent artist and 30 to 20 percent business person, and I am the reverse.”

Meanwhile, Paramount Pictures had just hired the former head of DC films at Warner Bros Walter Hamada, to focus on developing horror content as a part of a multi-year contract.
