CE Features

David Tennant and Michael Sheen are all set to return for the third season of Staged where they play a fictionalised versions of themselves. Set during the COVID-19 pandemic, the series follows Tennant and Sheen as they try to rehearse for a play titled Six Characters in Search of an Author, written by Italian playwright Luigi Pirandello. Simon Evans plays the director of the play who is trying to hold the production together.

While the first season dealt with the actors struggling to remotely rehearse for the role, the second season followed David and Michael as they enjoy the success of the show and yet are not asked to reprise their roles for the American remake.

The official synopsis for the third season says, “Things have returned to normal for David and Michael. They have moved on from lockdown and returned to their everyday working life, while Simon’s career remains stagnant. His phone does ring, but only to ask if he can get David and Michael back together, and they’ve made it clear they want nothing more to do with him."

The third season of the series is all set to stream on the streaming site BritBox from 24 November.
