Netflix has released a new trailer for The Witcher prequel series The Witcher: Blood Origin. The series, based on the fantasy novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski, is set thousands of years before the events of The Witcher. The miniseries, consisting of four episodes, was created by Declan de Barra and Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.

The announcement regarding the series was made last year with a short teaser which was released as a post-credit scene towards the end of the second season of The Witcher.

While season 3 of The Witcher has just wrapped filming, Netflix has already renewed the series for a fourth and fifth season. The prequel series was announced last year due to the growing popularity of the series. An animated spinoff film titled The Witcher: Nightmare Of The Wolf was also released exclusively on Netflix in August.

The Witcher: Blood Origin will reportedly trace the origins of the Witcher's, a class of bounty hunters who hunt demons and otherworldly beings. Witchers are mutants who gain their superhuman-like abilities through a painful process that involves alchemy and sorcery. The ensemble cast of the series includes Michelle Yeoh, Sophia Brown, Jacob Collins-Levy, Laurence O'Fuarain, Jodie Turner-Smith, Mirren Mack, and Lenny Henry.
