Star Wars: The Acolyte starts filming

The upcoming Star Wars prequel series titled Star Wars: The Acolyte has started filming. The series is reportedly set thousand years before the events of The Phantom Menace and will show the rise of the dark side of the force while the high republic was at the height of its power.

The mystery thriller is being developed by Lucasfilm to stream on Disney+ along with all the other Star Wars content. It was recently announced that Dafne Keen, who played the young mutant X-23 in Logan, will be starring in the film. The beginning of the production along with a confirmation about the rest of the cast members was made by the official Star Wars page on Twitter. 

Apart from Dafne Keen, the cast of the series also includes Squid fame star Lee Jung-Jae,  Amandla Stenberg, Manny Jacinto, Charlie Barnett, Rebecca Henderson, Dean Charles-Chapman, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Carrie-Anne Moss.

Leslye Headland, known as the creator of Russian Doll, is heading the project as showrunner and executive producer. The first schedule of the series has started filming in London, the makers are yet to announce a release date for the series.
