Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson’s DC superhero film Black Adam has officially surpassed the $300 million mark at the global box office. The film has managed to hold the top position at the box office for three months in a row. With $320 million in global sales, the film has crossed $137.4 million in domestic ticket sales. 

The film was made on a budget of $200 million and has been in production since 2006, with Dwayne Johnson attached to play the lead. Black Adam, which is connected to characters in the 2019 film Shazam, is expected to surpass Shazam’s global box office which currently stands at $366 million.

After years of delay in production and multiple directors attached to the project, Black Adam with Orphan fame Jaume Collet-Serra attached to direct, finally went into production in 2020. The film was based on a script written by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani.

Henry Cavill’s return to play Superman in the DC universe was announced through a cameo in the mid-credit scene for Black Adam which became a major factor for the film’s stupendous word-of-mouth post-release. It is expected that Dwayne Johnson will return to reprise his role as Black Adam in future DC projects.
