Cate Blanchett, who played Hela in Thor: Ragnarok, is all set to reprise her role in the Disney+ animated series What If…?. She will reportedly lend her voice to the character in the second season of the series. 

Although the makers have not officially confirmed a release date for the series, the second season of What If…? is all set to stream sometime around 2023. Cate Blanchett is the first official cast confirmation for the second season. Blanchett’s casting was confirmed by storyboard artist and director Bryan Andrews who is best known for shows like Samurai Jack and Primal.

Andrews has directed all nine episodes of season 1 of What If…? And he was recently confirmed to direct one episode of the Marvel spinoff series Marvel Zombies. What If…? Explores parallel universe stories in Marvel and shows us how different things could have been. In the first season, we got to see how the world could be if T’Challa was kidnapped by the ravagers and became a star lord instead of Peter Quill. 

According to the director, the episode voiced by Blanchett will be dedicated to Hela, speaking about the experience of working with the Oscar-winning actor in an interview, Andrews reveals that “It was surreal.”
