Tom Cruise's upcoming film, Top Gun: Maverick is set to have a special screening at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

This edition marks the 75th anniversary of the film festival, which will run from May 17 to May 28. The other details about the screening are expected to be out in April.

Top Gun: Maverick is the sequel to the 1986 film, which starred Cruise as hotshot pilot Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell.

After facing multiple delays due to the pandemic, Top Gun: Maverick is finally set to hit theaters on May 27.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the film also stars Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Monica Barbaro, Ed Harris and Val Kilmer, returning as Iceman.

The official world premiere of this film is planned at San Diego before the Cannes screening.

Other films that might have a Cannes premiere are Baz Luhrmann's Elvis, George Miller's Three Thousand Years of Longing, David Cronenberg's Crimes of the Future and Disney-Pixar's Lightyear.
