A prequel to Orphan was announced in February 2020, with the Jason Bourne actress Julia Stiles set to star alongside Isabelle Fuhrman.

The trailer for the prequel was released on the Paramount Movies youtube page. The movie is said to center around the events after Esther’s arrival to the US from an Estonian psychiatric facility.

The original movie Orphan revolved around a young couple who go through traumatic events after adopting a 9-year-old girl. Isabelle Fuhrman received a lot of praise for her performance as the young adoptee Esther in Orphan, earning her the title of “Horror icon”

The much-awaited addition to the horror franchise is confirmed to have a simultaneous theatrical and streaming release.
