Emmy Nominations 2022: Donald Glover gets an Emmy nomination for his performance in Atlanta

Donald Glover has been nominated for Emmy 2022 for his performance in the FX show Atlanta. He is nominated for the Outstanding lead actor in a comedy series category and is going up against Bill Hader in Barry and Jason Sudeikis in Ted Lasso.

Donald Glover, who is the creator of the show, has written and directed several episodes of Atlanta while also playing the central character Earn. Atlanta has been nominated several times for the Emmys. It had previously won 5 awards out of which Donald Glover took home 2 awards for his performance and direction. 

The critically acclaimed show has won several accolades so far including Golden Globes Awards. It is currently slated to release its fourth and final season towards the end of 2022.

The actor/comedian/singer, who also goes under the name Childish Gambino while performing music, is the first African-American to win an Emmy in the Outstanding direction for a comedy series category. He was given the award for directing the season 1 episode of Atlanta titled B.A.N.
