Emerald Fennell's second directorial feature in development

Oscar-winning director Emerald Fennell's second feature as a director is in development at MRC Film. The film is expected to begin production this summer, and the casting for the film is currently underway.

The title and plot details are currently kept under wraps. Fennell will write the script and produce the film, which will reportedly tell a story about obsession. While MRC Film will serve as the studio, LuckyChap Entertainment, the producers of Fennell's debut directorial feature Promising Young Woman is in talks to produce the film.

Promising Young Woman, which made its world premiere at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, garnered Fennell the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. The picture was also nominated for Best Achievement in Directing and Best Picture. Carey Mulligan was nominated for Best Actress for the film, while editor Frederic Thoraval was also recognized.

As a writer, Fennell is best known for writing the second season of BBC's Killing Eve. As an actor, she portrayed Duchess Camilla Parker-Bowles in the fourth season of The Crown, which got her an Emmy nomination last year for Supporting Actress. She has also appeared in films like Vita & Virginia and The Danish Girl, and in the series, Call the Midwife.
