Anne Hathaway and Thomasin McKenzie team up for Eileen adaptation

CE Features

Actors Anne Hathaway and Thomasin McKenzie have joined forces for the feature film adaptation of Ottessa Moshfegh's 2015 novel, Eileen. The production of the film is underway in New Jersey.

The film tells the story of a young woman who works at a juvenile correctional facility for boys and cares for her abusive, alcoholic father, and explores the drama that unfolds when she becomes infatuated with a new co-worker, Rebecca Saint John. What follows is an unexpected plunge into a crime, surpassing her wildest imaginations.

The film will be directed by William Oldroyd of Lady McBeth-fame, while Ari Wegner, who is winning accolades for his work in the recently released The Power of the Dog, will be lensing. Currently in development at Searchlight Pictures, Eileen is yet to lock a release date.
