The story arc of Steve Rogers as Captain America came to a heartwarming end in Avengers: Endgame. Following that, it was then announced that Sam Wilson AKA Falcon, played by Anthony Mackie, will take over the mantle of Captain America. 

Marvel boss Kevin Feige later announced that a fourth Captain America film starring Anthony Mackie in the lead was in development. The film is titled Captain America: New World Order and has Harrison Ford playing Thunderbolt Ross, following the death of actor William Hurt who portrayed the character in the previous films.

If reports are to be believed then Thunderbolt Ross will be the main antagonist in the upcoming film while multiple other Marvel villains are also set to make surprise appearances. The central conflict will be around the Tiamut island first introduced in the Eternals, after it is revealed that the island might contain deposits of the fictional Adamantium metal, Ross and other villains will stop at nothing to get their hands on it. 

Captain America: New World Order is currently scheduled to release on 3 May 2024.
