James Cameron has recently revealed that a Terminator reboot is currently “in discussion.” In a recent interview, while promoting his Avatar: The Way of Water, the filmmaker expressed his desire to revisit the popular sci-fi franchise that he created.

The franchise started with Terminator, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger in the lead role, the first film was released in 1987 and was lauded for its groundbreaking visual effects and futuristic themes.

Following the success of the original film, the franchise expanded into five more sequels and television series. Talking about his idea for a reboot, Cameron said, "If I were to do another 'Terminator' film and maybe try to launch that franchise again, which is in discussion but nothing's been decided, I would make it much more about the AI side of it than bad robots gone crazy.”

James Cameron’s long-awaited sequel to 2009’s Avatar was released on 16 December and has already crossed $500 million at the worldwide box office.
