Xochitl Gomez, who made her acting debut with Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness, has been cast alongside Mary Elizabeth Winstead in Ursa Major. The film is about a mother-daughter duo who fight for survival on an Earth-like planet, running away from a group of hunters and an impending storm that threatens to destroy everything in its path.

Ursa Major is directed by the directing duo Jonathan and Josh Baker. They are known for directing 2014’s Big Man and 2018’s Kin. Patrick Somerville, who has worked on the Emmy-nominated series Station Eleven, has written the screenplay for the film. The writer will reportedly co-produce the film with David Eisenberg under their banner Tractor Beam.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who is known for her roles in Scott Pilgrim Vs The World and Birds of Prey, will play the mother of Gomez’s character in the film. The sci-fi thriller film will be released by XYZ Films at the Toronto International Film Festival.
