Film on brand BlackBerry in the making

The screenplay is adapated from book Losing the Signal: The Untold Story Behind the Extraordinary Rise and Spectacular Fall of BlackBerry

Director Matt Johnson, who has helmed films like The Dirties and Operation Avalanche, will be making a film titled Blackberry, which will be detailing the rise and fall of BlackBerry gadget which was the first smartphone made.

According to reports, the upcoming film has wrapped up production and will mainly focus on the business relationship between the brand’s co-founders Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie. The film features Jay Baruchel and Glenn Howerton. However, it is not known if they will be playing the founders. BlackBerry also features Cary Elwes, Saul Rubinek, Rich Sommer, Martin Donovan, Michael Ironside and Johnson.

The film’s screenplay is adapted by Johnson and Miller from the bestselling book Losing the Signal: The Untold Story Behind the Extraordinary Rise and Spectacular Fall of BlackBerry by Jacquie McNish and Sean Silcoff.
