In a recent interaction with a fan on Twitter, writer and series creator Neil Gaiman talked about the possibility of a second season for The Sandman. He explained about what Netflix is looking for before it renews a series for a new season. The series is an adaptation of the popular graphic novel of the same name, written by Gaiman.

The Sandman tells the story of the lord of dreams as he escapes captivity after a century of being held prisoner by a group of occult practitioners. The story deals with various themes including dreams, wishes, desires, death, and immortality. The Sandman premiered on the streaming platform on the 5th of August and received widespread critical and commercial acclaim. 

Fans were anxious about the absence of a season 2 announcement despite the overwhelmingly positive reactions. Reacting to a tweet, Neil Gaiman explained how the network officials might wait for a month to gauge the overall reactions to the show before greenlighting the second season. The showrunners recently released a two-part bonus episode for the series
