George Clooney's latest directorial film The Tender Bar has a new release date. The film will have a limited theatrical release on December 17, following a nationwide release in the US on December 22, before premiering globally on Amazon Prime Video on January 7.

The coming-of-age drama is headlined by Ben Affleck, Tye Sheridan, Lily Rabe, and Christopher Lloyd.

Based on author JR Moehringer's 2005 memoir of the same name, the film has a script written by William Monahan. The story follows the author, played by Sheridan, as a young boy who seeks to replace his father who abandons him. The boy develops a friendship with Uncle Charlie (Affleck), who along with his friends, takes the boy to beach games, and ultimately into their circle. As his mother (Rabe) struggles to provide her son with opportunities denied to her — and to leave the rundown home of her father (Lloyd )— J.R. begins to pursue his romantic and professional dreams.

Meanwhile, Amazon also released a first-look image from the film.

The Tender Bar also features Max Casella, Sondra James, Max Martini, Michael Braun, Matthew Delamater, Rhenzy Feliz, Ivan Leung, Briana Middleton and newcomer Daniel Ranieri.

Clooney also produces along with his producing partner Grant Heslov through their Smokehouse Pictures banner. Ted Hope also produces with Moehringer and Barbara A Hall serving as executive producers.
