Filmmaker Patty Jenkins has confirmed that the third film in the superhero franchise is happening. The filmmaker shared the development while appearing during the virtual event DC FanDome on Saturday, along with actor Lynda Carter, the star of the '70s live-action television series, Wonder Woman.

“We’re super excited about Wonder Woman 3. Gal [Gadot], who is so bummed about not being here, who’s the busiest person in the world, with now three little kids and shooting,” Jenkins said during her appearance at the virtual panel.

The second film in the series, Wonder Woman 1984, was released last December in theatres and HBO Max simultaneously, and grossed over $165 million worldwide. Details related to the third film are currently under wraps.

Meanwhile, Jenkins will also be directing Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, which is set to release in December 2023.
