Riz Ahmed, Lulu Wang to co-produce comedy series The Son of Good Fortune

Based on the novel by Lysley Tenorio, the show is about an undocumented Filipino teenager who lives in the Bay area

British-Pakistani actor Riz Ahmed and filmmaker Lulu Wang are set to produce a comedy series called The Song of Good Fortune. Based on the novel by Lysley Tenorio, the show is about an undocumented Filipino teenager who lives in the Bay area, his journey of navigating through a tumultuous relationship with his mother who used to be a former B-movie action star, falling in love for the first time as well as finding ways to pay back debt while his life begins to crumble. 

Andrew Lopez is set to adapt the novel to the screen and will serve as the executive producer on the film along with Ahmed, and Left Handed's Allie Moore. This will be Ahmed's second collaboration with Amazon Studios after Sound of Metal. 

Wang is currently working on a TV series based on the popular novel, The Expatriates, penned by Janice YK Lee.
