Actor David Dastmalchian, who was recently seen in Dune and The Suicide Squad, will star in 20th Century Studios' upcoming true-crime thriller film Boston Strangler.

The actor joins a star-studded cast that includes Keira Knightley, Carrie Coon, Alessandro Nivola, and Chris Cooper.

Written and directed by Matt Ruskin, the film is based on the tale of the infamous serial killer who stalked and slaughtered 11 women in Boston, Massachusetts between 1962 and 1964. The true-crime thriller will focus on Loretta McLaughlin (Knightley), the late journalist who broke out the killer’s story to the public. McLaughlin, working alongside reporter Jean Cole, pushed the limits of how the public viewed women, risking their own lives and putting it all on the line in their efforts to not only keep women informed but to pull the sheet off of corruption cover-ups and reveal the true face of the murderer.

There is no information available about the role Dastmalchian will play in the film.

Dastmalchian, who made his big-screen debut in The Dark Knight broke out after the 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp film, in which he starred as Ant-Man’s buddy, Kurt. Earlier this year, the actor starred in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad as the Polka-Dot Man, and as the villainous Piter de Vries in the blockbuster hit Dune. He will soon be seen in The Last Voyage of Demeter, which is scheduled for a January 2023 release.
