Upendra's homecoming

The actor, who had taken a break to try his hand in politics, is back to filmmaking
Upendra's homecoming

Upendra was one of the onscreen heroes who took a leap into politics, and he even co-founded Karnataka Pragnyavantha Janatha Party (which he later resigned from). The actor, who is planning to float his own party has now decided to keep politics aside temporarily and go back to film-making.

Yes, to all fans of the Real Star, who were disheartened with his decision to expend his energies in politics, Upendra is returning to the silver screen. Work on his various projects will start in full swing from today, says our source. “He will continue to do his bit in politics, but he wants to focus on his work in cinema, which has always been his first love.”

Buzz in Sandalwood has it that Upendra and team will get back to film discussions this week onwards. The first on the list for the actor will be completing the pending song in Home Minister, which is now in post production. The bilingual film made in Kannada and Telugu is directed by Sujay K Srihari, under Poorna Naidu Productions. It has Vedhika play the female lead, with Tanya Hope debuting in Kannada as the movie’s second lead.

He will also be completing his pending project Uppi Rupee, provided everything else falls in place. This is a film by K Madesh with Rachita Ram in the lead, and they had completed the movie on schedule.

Filmmakers who had approached the Upendra with scripts, and among them director Gurudutt who had a subject for the actor, have been informed that he is going to do films full-time.

Another interesting tidbit is that Upendra plans to direct a film this year, script work for which has begun. “Upendra and team will be busy making the story board for the next six months. The film will be done on a grand scale and, in all likelihood,  the project will be launched on September 18 on his birthday,” says our source.

It should be a summer treat and we can’t wait to know what Upendra the actor and director has in store for us.
