It is well known that Sivakarthikeyan and Venkat Prabhu were set to collaborate on the actor's 26th film SK26. We had also earlier reported last December that Venkat Prabhu headed to Los Angeles to craft Sivakarthikeyan's look and the VFX of the film which is said to be a sci-fi entertainer crafted with a huge budget. It was also speculated that the actor will be seen playing two different roles in the film. However, as the actor-producer commenced filming for Seyon, helmed by Sivakumar Murugesan, fueling rumours that the project was being shelved.
While the Thiagarajan of Sathya Jyothi production banner had confirmed earlier that it was not the case, it now looks like there is going to be a massive change in plans. Dhanush recently shared a poster where it was written DxV and the backdrop suggested an out-of-the-world, intergalactic setting. This led to many speculations that Dhanush was being onboarded for the film, replacing Sivakarthikeyan. Another section of the audience was convinced that this is a new film that Venkat Prabhu pitched to Dhanush. Sai Abhyankkar also shared the poster with a chef and a fireworks emoji, suggesting that he's "cooking a blast" for the movie, further paving way to discussions online. An official announcement on July 10 will reveal whose project it would be.
Earlier this year, actor Ramya Nambeesan shared a speculation post on her Instagram story that said Kalyani Priyadarshan and Ramya Nambessan were leading SK26 alongside Sivakarthikeyan and wrote "Next", confirming her presence. It is not yet known if she will be part of this new project, if the film does change hands.
Meanwhile, Dhanush has a number of films in his pipeline. His next, Om (D55), with director Rajkumar Periasamy will also star Mammooty, Sreeleela and Sai Pallavi. His next, D56 will be directed by Lubber Pandhu director Thamizharasan Pachamuthu. He is also set to reunite with Mari Selvaraj after Karnan for a film which will feature music by AR Rahman.
Some reports suggested him joining hands with PS Mithran for a film backed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and another with Siva, which are yet to be confirmed. Also in his pipeline are his Ilaiyaraaja and APJ Abdul Kalam biopics—the production development details of which are scanty.
Venkat Prabhu last made The Greatest of All Time (GOAT) in 2024.
