Post Good Bad Ugly's success, Adhik Ravichandran has been busy with the pre-production work for AK64, his second collaboration with Ajith Kumar. While anticipation around the film has been high, updates have been sparse about the film which was expected to begin filming in February this year.

After a long wait, Adhik has shared a concrete update on his film, stating that pre-production for AK64 is finally over. In a press interaction, Adhik said, "The prep for the film has been over. We are expecting an official announcement from both the hero's team and the producer in August." He later added that the preparations for the shoot will begin soon after the announcement.

Last week, we had reported that Ajith's wife and former actor Shalini could be making her debut as a producer by backing AK64, although there has been no official confirmation from the actor or the film's team. The latest reports suggest that Shalini may not only bankroll the project but also oversee its production. In the mean time, speculations were also rife about actor Kayadu Lohar being considered for an important character in Ajith Kumar's film.

While plot details of AK64 also remain unknown at the moment, Adhik spoke in an event last year, saying, "Good Bad Ugly was made purely for the fans of Ajith sir. But AK64 won't be like that. It will be an action entertainer with a solid screenplay that will also pull in the family audience."

Good Bad Ugly was released last year to positive reviews and witnessed commercial success. The film also starred Trisha, Arjun Das, Sunil, Prabhu, Prasanna, Karthikeya Dev, Priya Prakash Varrier, Jackie Shroff, Shine Tom Chacko, Tinnu Anand, BS Avinash and Raghu Ram.

Meanwhile, Ajith Kumar's racing endeavours are set to be made into a feature-length film, directed by Vijay. Titled Gladiators, it is set to showcase how he along with his team overcame major challenges and secured podium finishes in leading championships. A release date for the film is yet to be announced.
