Even as fans continue to await an official update on Ajith Kumar's next film with director Adhik Ravichandran, fresh speculation surrounding the project's production has emerged online. Reports now claim that actor Shalini could make her debut as a producer by backing the tentatively titled AK64, although there has been no official confirmation from the actor or the film's team.
The latest reports suggest that Shalini may not only bankroll the project but also oversee its production, with pre-production work reportedly progressing behind the scenes. The rumours come amid continued uncertainty over the film's production banner.
Earlier, reports had suggested that Sun Pictures was in talks to produce the film after speculation that several major production houses were hesitant due to Ajith's reported remuneration demands. However, those reports, too, remain unverified, and the makers are yet to announce the film's producer officially.
While details about AK64 continue to be kept under wraps, Adhik Ravichandran had previously hinted that the film would be markedly different from Good Bad Ugly. Calling his previous collaboration with Ajith "a film made purely for the fans," the director said AK64 would instead be "an action entertainer with a solid screenplay" aimed at appealing to family audiences as well.
Ajith was last seen in Good Bad Ugly, which also starred Trisha, Arjun Das, Sunil, Prabhu, Prasanna, Karthikeya Dev, Priya Prakash Varrier, Jackie Shroff, Shine Tom Chacko, Tinnu Anand, BS Avinash and Raghu Ram.
Meanwhile, the actor's journey in professional motorsport is also set to be chronicled in Gladiators, a feature-length documentary directed by Vijay. Presented by Ajith Kumar Sports Services LLC, the film will focus on the challenges Ajith and his team overcame on their way to podium finishes in international racing championships.
