Raashii Khanna has opened up about her journey to Dharman, her upcoming collaboration with Rajinikanth and Dragon filmmaker Ashwath Marimuthu. The actor revealed that her association with the project began with a message from Ashwath after she reached out to him following the release of Dragon.

Recalling how she came on board, Raashii said she had messaged Ashwath to tell him how much she enjoyed Dragon. The filmmaker responded that he would like to collaborate with her someday. "Not too long after that, he texted me again, saying, 'The time has come,'" she recalled to Times of India.

Ashwath subsequently narrated Dharman to Raashii, who said she immediately connected with the story. "I instantly loved it. It had so much heart. And the opportunity to share screen space with Rajinikanth sir made it an easy 'yes'," she said.

Raashii also revealed that her character occupies an important emotional space in the film and has a significant role in shaping Rajinikanth's character, Dharman. "My character in the film sits at the emotional core of the story and plays a key role in shaping Dharman as a person," she said.

However, it was not merely Rajinikanth's stature as a superstar that left an impression on Raashii during their time together. She said his humility and curiosity stood out to her, particularly a remark he made about the life of an actor. "There was something he said that really stayed with me... he mentioned that actors are prisoners," she said. Explaining what she took from the comment, Raashii added, "I understood what he meant. The price of fame is a certain loss of freedom."

Dharman, directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, stars Rajinikanth in the lead and also features Simran. The film marks Rajinikanth and Simran's reunion six years after their previous collaboration and has the veteran actor playing a doctor.
