Just a few days ago, Suriya's Karuppu premiered on Prime Video, and audiences are catching it with a fresh eye at the comfort of their homes. Meanwhile, actor Arya, who is gearing up for the release of his Ananthan Kaadu, has opened up about his cameo in the film, which never made it to the final cut.
Previously, Karuppu's editor Kalaivanan revealed that Arya's footage was the longest cameo that was removed from the film. He also assured that his portions will be released by the makers as a part of the deleted scenes.
Speaking about his role in the film, Arya said, "I did a small experimental role in Suriya's Karuppu. Director RJ Balaji later called me and said it didn't work out in the larger scheme of things in the film and informed me before removing my scenes from it. We will work together later on another project."
Karuppu has Suriya portraying the titular guardian deity who descends to Earth to help a distressed family when they call out for his help. However, he soon realises the rigged nature of the legal system, which has been guarded by corrupt individuals for decades, and decides to reform it.
As previously mentioned by the editor, scenes featuring Kaali Venkat, a reference to Vijay's GOAT film and another scene featuring the twin brothers from Doctor were all removed from the film's final version. Even actor Swasika said some portions she shot for did not make it to the theatres.
Meanwhile, Arya, who was last seen in filmmaker Manu Anand's Mr X, is actively promoting his Tamil-Malayalam bilingual Ananthan Kaadu, helmed by Jiyen Krishnakumar, which is set to hit theatres on June 25. Up next, he has Pa Ranjith-VR Dinesh's Vettuvam and is also set to be seen in Sarpatta Parambarai 2, which is yet to go on floors.
