The makers of Arya's Ananthan Kaadu, the upcoming Malayalam-Tamil bilingual scripted by L2: Empuraan writer Murali Gopy, have unveiled a new poster featuring veteran actor Vijayaraghavan, commemorating his win at the 71st National Film Awards. The veteran actor was recently honoured with the Best Supporting Actor award for his performance in Pookkaalam (2023), which he shares with Tamil actor MS Bhaskar.
The new poster of Ananthan Kaadu features Vijayaraghavan in white traditional attire, exuding gravitas and quiet authority, with thick glasses and a composed look. A portrait of Gandhi behind him hints at a political role. Sharing the image on Sunday, the makers wrote: “Hearty congratulations to veteran actor @actorvijayaraghavan_official on winning the National Award! – Team #AnanthanKaadu.”
The first-look poster, title announcement and teaser for Ananthan Kaadu were previously launched in June. Directed by Jiyen Krishnakumar, who earlier collaborated with Murali Gopy on Tiyaan, the upcoming film also has a multi-lingual ensemble cast that includes Murali Gopy, Sunil, Achyuth Kumar, Regina Cassandra, Santhy Balachandran, Nikhila Vimal, Sagar Surya, Saritha Kukku, Indrans, Siddique, Renji Panicker and Appani Sarath. The film is backed by S Vinod Kumar under the Mini Studio banner, with cinematography by S Yuva, editing by Rohit V S Variyath and music by B Ajaneesh Loknath, who makes his Malayalam debut with this project.
Reacting to his National Award win, Vijayaraghavan told us earlier, “It's definitely a joyous moment, but I still consider the audience's acceptance more valuable. These awards are decided by a bunch of people, depending on their tastes and mood. If 10 people are part of the panel, they will have 20 opinions. They approach it like a teacher awarding marks, whereas a viewer comes in without any preconceived notion. So their recognition will always remain the bigger award. I'm not blaming anyone, just content with the win.”
Last seen in Ouseppinte Osiyathu as the titular character, the veteran actor also has Kalyani Priyadarshan-Naslen's Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, scheduled to hit theatres for Onam, and Sharafudheen-Anupama Parameswaran's delayed film The Pet Detective in his lineup.
