Ajith Kumar is gearing up for another collaboration with Good Bad Ugly director Adhik Ravichandran, and his upcoming film Dare Devil has already generated considerable interest. The project, earlier referred to as AK64, was officially titled recently, with the announcement also marking a new chapter for Ajith's wife Shalini Ajithkumar, who is turning producer with the film under Brave Hearts Production.
The film will also see Anirudh Ravichander reunite with Ajith for the fourth time after Vedalam, Vivegam and Vidaamuyarchi. While details about the story and the rest of the cast are being kept under wraps, Dare Devil is said to be planned as a different outing from the team's previous film, with Adhik aiming for a broader family audience.
Now, the project has reportedly undergone a change in its casting plans. According to a report by Valai Pechu, Dare Devil is likely to commence filming towards the end of September 2026. The report further claims that Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, who was earlier speculated to be part of the film in a key supporting role, is no longer associated with the project. The reported reason is a disagreement over remuneration.
However, neither the makers nor the actors involved have officially confirmed Mohanlal's exit or the reported remuneration issue. The September shooting schedule too remains a report at this stage.
Dare Devil was initially expected to begin production earlier this year, but the project reportedly faced delays while the makers worked out its production arrangements. With Shalini now backing the film, the Ajith-Adhik reunion is set to move ahead as a production venture from her banner. The film's title announcement also described the project as a special new journey for the actor-director duo.
Ajith was last seen in Good Bad Ugly, which marked his first collaboration with Adhik Ravichandran. The actor is now returning to the filmmaker for what is expected to be a fresh entertainer, with more details about the cast and plot likely to emerge as production gets underway.
