After recording a bloodied opening weekend with almost Rs 21 crore in revenue, Lokesh Kanagaraj-Wamiqa Gabbi's DC has witnessed its expected Monday dip. After a rousing three days at the box office (Rs 4.40 crore on day 1, Rs 7 crore on day 2, Rs 9.55 crore on day 3), DC slowed down on day four with Rs 5.70 crore in collections across the country.

This took the total gross collections to Rs 30.65 crore and total India net collections to Rs 26.65 crore so far. Overseas, the film collected Rs 1.50 crore on Day 4. Arun Matheswaran's action-thriller is now inching towards the Rs 50 crore as the film's worldwide collections have already reached Rs 43.90 crore.

Since its theatrical debut, DC has been receiving critical acclaim from audiences and critics, who praised Arun Matheswaran's direction, Lokesh's acting in his debut and Anirudh's music for propelling the story forward.

Anirudh and his raaga of redemption

The story follows an outcast, named Devadas (Lokesh Kanagaraj), who fights to keep an innocent family safe after they become police brutality victims. At the same time, he and his compatriots get away from a ruthless police officer, finding justice and redemption and forming unlikely connections during their journey. Besides Lokesh, Wamiqa Gabbi and Sanjana Krishnamoorthy play female leads. Aadukalam Naren, Thalaivasal Vijay and Kasthuri Raja also play key roles.

In our CE review of the film, we had written, "DC is Arun’s most accessible, entertaining, and engaging film, and it gives Lokesh Kanagaraj the safest acting debut. Lokesh is given this brooding, alcohol-friendly role where his fists and weapons do most of the talking. But he is quite effective in the quieter moments, as well, especially the scene where he has to subdue a wild Chandra after a particularly violent episode."

The film also brings Wamiqa Gabbi back to Tamil cinema after her role in Thiagarajan Kumararaja's chapter, Ninaivo Oru Paravai, from the 2023 anthology Modern Love Chennai

DC marks Arun's fourth directorial after Rocky (2021), Saani Kaayidham (2022), and Captain Miller (2024). Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Picutres banner, DC has cinematography by Mukesh G, editing by GK Prasanna, and stunt choreography by PC Stunts.
