At the LIK success meet on Wednesday, director-actor SJ Suryah revealed that actor VR Dinesh's role was initially offered to him, but he didn't take it up for a reason.
Recalling when Tamilarasan Pachamuthu came to him with the script, he said, "A director once approached me with a script I genuinely loved. I did ask him to make a few changes to suit my image, and he was completely open to it. But as those changes kept adding up, I paused and reflected. I told him honestly, 'I’m moving in a certain direction, but if you keep altering your story for me, you might lose your individuality as a filmmaker.'"
SJ Suryah then explained that he goes with his gut for such film choices. "I chose to step away, even though I could have easily gone ahead with the project after those changes. Today, that film, Lubber Pandhu, has become a blockbuster. I truly admire what Tamilarasan has created, especially that beautiful scene with Geetha Kailasam and the cows. I even asked him how he managed to bring out such emotion using something so simple," he shared.
In Vignesh Shivan's LIK, SJ Suryah plays the antagonist alongside Pradeep Ranganathan, Krithi Shetty, Gouri Kishan, Yogi Babu, Seeman, and more. The film revolves around a man’s search for love in a world where relationships have become increasingly techno-centric and transactional.
Music composer Anirudh has once again reunited with director Vignesh for LIK. The crew of the film also includes Ravi Varman as the director of photography and Pradeep E Ragav as the editor.
SJ Suryah is currently working on his directorial comeback, Killer, in which he stars alongside Preethi Asrani. He is reportedly a part of Rajinikanth's Jailer 2, which is yet to be confirmed by the makers. Apart from Killer, he also has Sardar 2 with Karthi and Bro Code with Ravi Mohan and Arjun Ashokan in the pipeline.
