After significant delays, Vignesh Shivan's Love Insurance Kompany was released in theatres on April 10 to packed cinema halls, thanks to the anticipation surrounding the film's sci-fi themes. With the film already knocking off the Rs 30 crore milestone in India, Vignesh Shivan expressed his gratitude to fans and audiences, while reflecting on his and the team's difficult journey to bring the film to the big screens.

"For me, LIK became a blockbuster the moment it released in theatres. It's a hit for me. When dreams are big, it becomes a tough journey. My life is thankfully in a comfort zone, and I could have made films in that zone itself, but I wanted to break that. I wanted to challenge myself. In this movie, not even one frame was easy to make. We had to insist on costume, art direction and CG. Then only the film would be convincing for its time period," he explained.

Noting that he has been reading reviews about the film, both positive and negative, Vignesh shared that a few lags in it were deliberate to make the audience acclimatise with the story and its setting. "I take the reviews as constructive criticism. In a romance film, I wanted to create interesting high points instead of making it a run-on-the-mill story. So, when I see the appreciation for it in theatres, it feels fulfilling and encouraging," he said, heaping praise on Pradeep Ranganathan.

"It is solely because of Pradeep that the film got made. Budget was the main issue for the movie. The condition of directors are worrisome these days. They are either being replaced or their film gets dropped. Recently, a major film got leaked online. The pain that these directors feel are immense. I've always had doubts on whether I can fulfil my vision, but somehow I was able to make it," he added.

The Naanum Rowdy Dhaan filmmaker further stated that they faced several other hurdles which included them not being able to get Pradeep's dates for the film, multiple postponements of the release date and more.

Besides Pradeep, Krithi Shetty, and SJ Suryah also star in lead roles. Gouri Kishan, Yogi Babu, Seeman, Shah Ra, Malavika, Mysskin, Anandaraj and Sunil Reddy, among others play supporting roles.

LIK, set in 2040, revolves around Suriyan's (SJ Suryah) eponymous app that monitors the love lives of couples and helps them insure their relationships. When his new app feature 'love score' hints at a failure in his relationship with Dheema (Krithi Shetty), Pradeep Ranganathan's Vibe Vassey is determined to prove it wrong and thwart the plans of Suriyan. Upon release, the film was met with mixed reviews, but is building its box office numbers one day at a time.

Anirudh has scored music for LIK, continuing his collaboration witj Vignesh Shivan. The crew of the film also includes Ravi Varman as the director of photography, Pradeep E Ragav as the editor. It is jointly produced by Rowdy Pictures and Seven Screen Studio.
