Actor Gouri Kishan spoke about friendship portrayed between her character, Kalki, and Pradeep Ranganathan's Vassey, in LIK, at the film's success meet on Wednesday. Helmed by Vignesh Shivan, the film opened in theatres on April 10 to mixed reviews.
Gouri spoke about challenges faced by the film and why she chose the character. "Like every challenging film, this one too had its share of difficulties and obstacles. But overcoming all that and seeing the film being appreciated for its quality gives us immense joy. This film is very important to me. I’ve played a character called Kalki, which is quite different from anything I’ve done before. The fact that people are understanding the character and sending me personal messages appreciating it makes me very happy. Many have especially connected with the emotion of friendship portrayed in the film," she said.
On why she thinks LIK gets friendship right, she added, "In our generation, friendship is a relationship that often goes unnoticed—the love that emerges from it. The beautiful bond between “Vaas” and “Kalki” is one of the key aspects of this film. If you look at social media, Twitter, and Instagram, you can see a lot of genuine and positive responses. There are a few negative comments here and there, but I’m not sure why. People should come to the theatre and experience the film directly."
LIK also stars SJ Suryah, Krithi Shetty, Yogi Babu, Seeman, and more. The film revolves around a man’s search for love in a world where relationships have become increasingly techno-centric and transactional.
On day 6, LIK has earned nearly Rs 32 crores in India alone. Music composer Anirudh has once again reunited with director Vignesh for LIK. The crew of the film also includes Ravi Varman as the director of photography and Pradeep E Ragav as the editor.
