Actor-racer Ajith Kumar has spoken out about the growing culture of freebies and public expectations from the ruling government. In his recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, the actor said, “The primary responsibility of the government is to administer the country. We expect freebies from it. Where is the money in the treasury for that? I think politics is a difficult job. No government or politician in the world has a magic wand. But I think we expect too much from them. It is fair to expect our needs from the government. But we cannot always expect everything from the government.”

Ajith’s comments have sparked discussions online, with many users taking to social media to express both support and criticism of his stance.

This is not the first time the actor has weighed in on socially sensitive topics. Earlier in the same interview, he broke his silence on the Karur stampede that occurred this September. Referring to actor-politician Vijay, he said, “That individual alone is not responsible; we are all responsible for it, and the media has a part to play in this.”

Ajith Kumar further elaborated that society has collectively become “obsessed with gathering” and that such a hero-worship culture projects the entire film industry in a poor light.

On the work front, Ajith is set to reunite with director Adhik Ravichandran after Good Bad Ugly. The actor confirmed that an official announcement regarding the project will be made in January 2026.
