In his 32-year-long career, Ajith Kumar has undergone multiple challenges in the film industry, and some of it have been serious enough to put him in the operation theatre. The actor recently revealed that he has had over 29 surgeries in his career in his endeavours to get a role right.

In a detailed conversation with Anupama Chopra for The Hollywood Reporter India, the actor opened up about his racing pursuits and the issues he faced as a professional racer on the track. Speaking about the crashes he had on the track, Ajith said, "It is not as what people think. I have had some terrible crashes, but so have the other drivers. May be since I am an actor, my name is highlighted multiple times in the media, so people think I am always crashing," he said.

For uninitiated, the actor's car had toppled several times during the Southern European Cup in Valencia earlier this year.

"When I crash, my first instinct is to assess the situation, to see if I’m injured, how serious it is, how damaged the car is, and whether I can get going again," he stated, adding that he his adrenaline takes over, completing the rest of the race once he has confirmed that the situation is good. "All you can think about is avoiding a DNF. The only thought in my mind is, 'I have to finish the race today'," he added. While these crashes might have set him back with a few injuries, none of them had dampened his spirits, with Ajith mentioning that he has never skipped a practice session or a race.

In his acting career too, Ajith has been hit with multiple injuries. "I'm blessed that I have had good surgeons and doctors looking after me who put me back in shape. I'm also deeply grateful as not many people are so lucky. Like I say, anything can happen," he shared.

"I have been a hardcore optimist all my life and there are two ways you can go about living your life. You can always complain or learn lessons from it and move on like a warrior. Every warrior goes to the battlefield knowing that they will not come back home. But that doesn't stop him from fulfilling his duties. I believe everything is happening for a reason," he elaborated.

Ajith, who seen in Magizh Thirumeni's Vidaamuyarchi and Adhik Ravichandran's Good Bad Ugly this year, will be reuniting with Adhik once again for AK64.
