Rajinikanth’s Coolie has entered its second weekday run, showing the expected dip in numbers after a strong second weekend. The film earned around Rs 3.00 crore net in India on its 12th day across all languages (early estimates), taking its total to Rs 260.35 crore, according to Sacnilk.com.
After debuting with a massive Rs 65 crore on Day 1, Coolie stayed strong through its extended opening weekend before settling into weekday drops. The film collected Rs 229.65 crore in its first week, with Tamil Nadu leading the way at nearly Rs 150 crore.
The second weekend saw a rebound in collections, with Day 10 (Saturday) bringing in Rs 10.5 crore and Day 11 (Sunday) further improving to Rs 11.35 crore. However, as expected, Monday witnessed a sharp decline, with the film dipping to Rs 3 crore.
Despite the drop, Coolie has firmly crossed the Rs 260 crore milestone in just 12 days and continues to hold well in its home state. Its performance in Hindi and Telugu has also contributed significantly to the overall tally.
An excerpt from CE’s review of the film reads, “There are so many characters, and yet, the writing doesn't allow any of them to flourish except for Soubin’s Dayalan and Shruti’s Preethi. Surprisingly, even Deva gets a raw deal, as his start-stop arc is as random as the machinations of Simon and the machine of Rajasekhar.”
Backed by Sun Pictures, Coolie stars Rajinikanth alongside Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, Upendra and Rachita Ram. The film has music by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Girish Gangadharan and editing by Philomin Raj.
All eyes will now be on how Coolie sustains itself during the weekdays of its second week before heading into the third weekend.
