
Actor Simran, who was recently seen in the hit film Tourist Family, directed by Abishan Jeevinth, met Rajinikanth at his residence. While details of what they discussed remains unknown, she shared a note on her social media handles expressing gratitude after meeting the star.
"Some meetings are timeless. Grateful to spend a beautiful moment with our Superstar. Coolie and Tourist Family success made this meet even more special," she wrote, sharing pictures with the actor.
Simran has previously shared her admiration for the actor and called herself a "big Rajini fan". She had recently watched Coolie and spoke to media on how she loved the film. "I always watch every single Rajini sir film, and irrespective of how it is to others, it is a hit to me. I think only if the story's content is good will everybody like it. But Rajini sir gave his best, nonetheless. I think it's a power-packed film with great action set pieces. I liked the story as well," she said.
Tourist Family, released in April, was a blockbuster hit across the state. Starring Sasikumar and Simran in lead roles, the story revolved a Sri Lankan family who come to Chennai in the aftermath of the economic crisis in the country, and their struggles of establishing a home in Tamil Nadu. Several filmmakers, actors and noted industry personnel heaped praise on the film for its heartwarming storyline and its ability to connect with the audiences.
The film had grossed about 90 crore from theatres around the world in its successful theatrical run. Produced on a reported budget of seven crore, the film had reportedly earned a profit margin of around 1200 per cent.
The supporting cast includes Yogi Babu, Ramesh Thilak, MS Bhaskar, Elango Kumaravel, Sreeja Ravi, and Bagavathi Perumal.
Coolie, on the other hand, broke multiple records upon release, becoming Rajinikanth's highest grossing film. Unfortunately, the film been receiving mixed to negative reactions from audiences. Coolie, starring an ensemble cast consisting of Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Rachita Ram, Upendra and Aamir Khan, among others, released in theatres ahead of Independence day and has minted Rs 235.15 crore across India. While the film earned over Rs 151 crore worldwide on its opening day, its earnings witnessed a drastic dip after the first weekend.
