James Gunn, having completed the script for The Batman II, is currently dropping updates on The Brave and The Bold—another DCU project on the Dark Knight. The DC Studios co-chief spoke about how he is pleased with the development of the project in a recent interview with IGN.

Admitting that the film is still subject to alteration amid development, Gunn said, "The Brave and the Bold script, I like where we are." It is set to follow the Caped Crusader and his son, Damien Wayne, as Robin, whose existence he is unaware of. A standalone project, the film is based on comic book writer Grant Morrison’s take on the superhero and is set to be helmed by Andy Muschietti. The writer for the film is kept under wraps.

Previously, the Superman director said that Batman is his biggest issue in all of DC then. "And it’s not — I’m not writing Batman, but I am working with the writer of Batman and trying to get it right, because he’s incredibly important to DC, as is Wonder Woman. So outside of the stuff that I’m doing in the projects that are actively going, our two priorities are finishing our Wonder Woman and our Batman scripts," he revealed.

As production on the new Batman film progresses, casting decisions are a major focus. The project's creator has remained tight-lipped about details, including whether this version of Batman will be a father figure. With story elements still evolving, particularly around Damien's parentage, specifics are being kept under wraps.

However, it's clear that landing the right actor for Batman will be a challenge, as Gunn said, “I think you’d have a harder time finding actors who don’t want to be Batman. He’s the one character everyone wants to play. That’s the truth.”

Meanwhile, the DCU is expanding with other projects, including a Viola Davis-led Waller series, Lanterns, a Superman sequel, and a Supergirl film starring Milly Alcock. Notably, the creator has confirmed there's no plan for a third season of Peacemaker.
