Rashmika Mandanna’s recent hip injury may have forced her to step away from her packed shooting schedule, but the actor found an unexpected silver lining in the downtime: getting to spend more time with her husband, actor Vijay Deverakonda. In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Rashmika revealed that the recovery period was the longest stretch the couple had spent together since their wedding earlier this year.

Rashmika and Vijay, who got married in February, had barely had the opportunity to settle into married life because of their professional commitments. According to Rashmika, the couple did not even see each other for three months after their wedding and mostly stayed in touch over phone calls. “This was the universe’s way of saying, Calm down, I will keep you at home now,” Rashmika said, describing the unexpected break. She added that it was “the most time” they had spent together since getting married, calling the experience “strange but nice".

The downtime also gave the couple an opportunity to discover each other’s viewing preferences. While Vijay enjoys serious shows, Rashmika is a fan of K-dramas. The actor joked that she had already managed to convert her husband to her choice of shows. Vijay, she revealed, is now hoping they can have more such relaxed days together, but without another injury. “Let’s have more of this, but next time without an injury!” he reportedly told her.

Rashmika had suffered the injury while shooting a song for her upcoming action thriller Mysaa in July. She revealed that the tendon in her hip bone snapped during filming, although she continued shooting until she could no longer lift her right leg. An MRI the following day confirmed the injury.

Although doctors cleared her to return to work soon after, Rashmika chose to take time off and focus on recovery. During the break, she spent time sleeping, reading, solving puzzles and being with her family and pet. She has now resumed work, beginning with Ranabaali, which also stars Vijay.
