Even after registering strong opening day figures, Pawan Kalyan starrer They Call Him OG is now struggling to bring in substantial footfalls at the boxoffice, both in domestic and overseas territories. Many are reflecting on the producers’ decision to go for exorbitant ticket prices for the first 10 days as a reason for film’s underwhelming collections in last 3 days. Now, producer Rahul Yadav Nakka has expressed his concern about the same.
Taking to his X page on Sunday evening, Rahul posted, “I urge and request the OG Producer and distributors to think of reducing the ticket prices to 200 from tomorrow so to increase the repeat value of the Movie.” The producer explained that it’s better to aim for 5 ticket sales for Rs 1000, instead of selling only 2 tickets for that amount, adding, “This way, people will consider watching the film again. This is a film that works better in group viewings.”
This is not the first time that Rahul Yadav Nakka has shared his concerns about high ticket prices. Even during the War 2-Coolie release time, the producer had reflected on the ironical situation of producers alienating its core audience with high ticket prices in Telugu states, while refusing film workers’ demands for higher pay. Rahul Yadav Nakka has earlier produced films like Malli Raava, Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya, and Brahma Anandam.
As of now, OG makers have kept a ticket price of 445 rs for multiplex and Rs 277 for single screens, which is valid till October 4. A few days ago, Telangana High Court had suspended the memo for these ticket prices, deciding to hold the next hearing on the case on October 9.
