The wait for Akhanda 2: Thaandavam just got a bit longer. As we reported earlier that the team is looking to postpone, the makers of Nandamuri Balakrishna's highly anticipated spiritual action sequel have officially announced on Thursday about the same. The film is set to skip its original September 25 release date.
Taking to social media, the production team shared their reasoning behind this decision, explaining, “Akhanda 2: Thaandavam brings back the blockbuster combination of 'God of Masses' Nandamuri Balakrishna and director Boyapati Sreenu, a duo celebrated for redefining mass action entertainers and creating some of the most iconic moments in Telugu cinema."
They added, "For a film of this scale, the re-recording, VFX, and the entire post-production process demands meticulous attention, and therefore require additional time to present the film at its absolute best considering the weight of expectations Akhanda 2 carries following the blockbuster success of the first part."
Directed by Boyapati Srinu, who helmed the original Akhanda, the sequel had generated massive buzz among fans. The first film was a roaring success, with Balakrishna's dual role performance and the film's unique blend of action and mysticism striking a chord with audiences. The sequel promises to take the story forward, with Balakrishna reprising his role as the fierce Aghora.
The recently released teaser showcased Balayya in an intense avatar against the Himalayan backdrop, with Aadhi Pinisetty hinted as the antagonist. Produced by 14 Reels Plus, Akhanda 2 stars Samyuktha as the female lead, with S Thaman returning for the music.
For Pawan Kalyan fans, this is great news as it means OG now has a solo slot for its September 25 release.
