The teaser of Akhanda 2: Thaandavam, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna and directed by Boyapati Sreenu, was officially unveiled on Monday. The sequel to the 2021 action-drama Akhanda presents Balakrishna in a refreshed, intense look, featuring a longer beard and a sharper tone as he returns to the role of the spiritually charged vigilante.

Set against the backdrop of the Himalayas, the Akhanda 2: Thaandavam’s teaser introduces a new scale and tone compared to its predecessor. We see Balayya’s sage fight against evil henchmen who threaten humanity. A voiceover towards the end describes Balayya’s character as “a conch well-versed in Vedas launching a war”, indicating the film’s continued blend of spiritual symbolism and larger-than-life action. Aadhi Pinisetty is hinted to play the antagonist, teased through a close-up of his eyes.

Produced by Raam Achanta and Gopichand Achanta under the 14 Reels Plus banner, Akhanda 2: Thaandavam stars Samyuktha as another lead. Music is composed by S Thaman, who returns after his successful work on the first part, continuing his fusion of folk and cinematic EDM elements.

Akhanda 2: Thaandavam is scheduled for theatrical release on September 25, coinciding with Dussehra. Interestingly, Pawan Kalyan’s much-awaited gangster film OG is also set to release on the same date, setting up a major box office clash.
