Nandamuri Balakrishna has finished dubbing for Akhanda 2: Thaandavam, the upcoming sequel to the 2021 spiritual action drama Akhanda. The makers marked the milestone by sharing a photograph of Balakrishna with director Boyapati Sreenu, signalling the film’s steady march towards its planned 25 September release.

The production had faced speculation of a delay, but the team has reaffirmed its schedule, setting the stage for a direct clash with Pawan Kalyan’s much-anticipated OG. The two senior stars, each with strong fan bases, are expected to dominate the box office in one of the year’s most closely watched release battles.

The teaser of Akhanda 2: Thaandavam, directed by Boyapati Sreenu, was unveiled recently. The sequel to the 2021 action drama Akhanda presents Balakrishna in a refreshed, intense look, featuring a longer beard and a sharper tone as he returns to the role of the spiritually charged vigilante.

Aadhi Pinisetty, who recently appeared in the webseries Mayasabha, is reported to play the principal antagonist, his presence suggested in the teaser through a close-up shot of his eyes. Samyuktha stars as the female lead, while S Thaman returns as composer after scoring the first film’s soundtrack, known for blending folk influences with electronic elements.

Produced by Raam Achanta and Gopichand Achanta under the 14 Reels Plus banner, Akhanda 2 marks the fourth collaboration between Balakrishna and Boyapati Sreenu, following Simha, Legend and the original Akhanda. Their previous outings have established a track record for high-energy action dramas with a spiritual or mythic edge.

Balakrishna and Boyapati Sreenu have previously collaborated on blockbusters like Simha, and Legend, building a strong legacy of crowd-pleasing action entertainers.
