Sivakarthikeyan has said that he is now looking to focus on films that offer “full entertainment” and cater to the commercial expectations of his audience. Speaking at a recent fan meet, the actor also shared updates on his upcoming projects, including Sivakumar Murugesan’s Seyon and his yet-untitled collaboration with Parking-fame director Ramkumar Balakrishnan, tentatively titled SK27.
“From here on, I am going to do only mass commercial films that offer complete entertainment,” Sivakarthikeyan said. The actor added that his next collaboration with Ramkumar is shaping up as a “solid mass commercial entertainer” and is already in production.
The actor also used the occasion to address the criticism that comes with his growing popularity. Asking his fans not to spend their time worrying about people who criticise or target them, Sivakarthikeyan said, “There will always be people who criticise us unnecessarily. Let them continue doing that. Smile, have fun and keep moving forward.”
He further urged his fans to respond to those who have helped them rather than wasting their energy seeking revenge against detractors. “If someone does something to us, don’t waste your time seeking revenge. Instead, give something back to the people who have helped us reach this place,” he said.
Drawing from the Tamil saying he used during the interaction, Sivakarthikeyan asked his fans to remain unaffected by unnecessary criticism. “People who criticise without reason will keep doing it. Just smile, stay happy and move on. We should be like a river. We will make our own path and, along the way, be useful to many people,” he said.
The comments come at a time when the actor has two distinctly promising projects in production. Seyon, directed by Sivakumar Murugesan, reunites the filmmaker with Sivakarthikeyan after their successful collaboration on Thaai Kizhavi. The rural action drama is produced by Kamal Haasan and R Mahendran under Raaj Kamal Films International and also stars Bhagyashri Borse, Raj B Shetty, Seeman, Bala Saravanan, Aruldoss and Singampuli.
SK27, meanwhile, marks Sivakarthikeyan’s first collaboration with Ramkumar Balakrishnan, who made his directorial debut with Parking. The film is backed by Sathya Jyothi Films and stars Kayadu Lohar as the female lead. Sai Abhyankkar is composing the music for the film.
