Congratulatory wishes and praises have been pouring in from all quarters for actor-turned-politician Vijay after his Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam set a historic record with their win in their debut election on Monday. From Rajinikanth and Suriya to Mammotty and Ravi Teja, all the who's who of the Indian film industry have wished the Jana Nayagan star for his victory.
The latest actor added to the list is Vijay's Thuppakki (2012) co-star, Vidyut Jammwal. In the AR Murugadoss directorial, Vidyut plays the antagonist, the leader of a sleeper cell network shut down by Vijay's Captain Jagadish Dhanapal.
On X, Vidyut wrote, "Heartfelt congratulations, Vijay, on your well-deserved election victory! You have always been loved by the people, and your honesty in every step—as a human, an actor, a friend—will continue to inspire. Wishing you all the best in this new chapter!”
Vijay secured 108 seats in the elections, with him winning both Trichy East and Perambur. The politician will now have to choose between the two, with a by-election due for the resigned seat. Meanwhile, Vijay needs 11 more seats to prove a majority and form the government.
On the work front, Vidyut Jammwal was last seen in Madharaasi opposite Sivakarthikeyan, in his second collaboration with AR Murugadoss after Thuppakki. He will next be seen in the American action comedy, Street Fighter, alongside an ensemble comprising Noah Centineo, Andrew Koji, Callina Liang, Roman Reigns, David Dastmalchian, Cody Rhodes, Andrew Schulz, Eric André, 50 Cent and Jason Momoa.
On the other hand, Vijay is still awaiting the release of Jana Nayagan, which was recently leaked online a month ago. The film's release is still in limbo, as the Censor Board for Film Certification is yet to provide a censor certificate for the film. With the results scheduled for today, the censor certificate is expected to be provided soon.
